Good Afternoon from Hatfield Elementary School,

There is a lot of information contained in this update, so thank you in advance for reading carefully.

No School Reminder/ Calendar Update

Please remember that tomorrow, March 12th, there is no school for students, as it is a professional development day for teachers.

Please remember to “Spring Ahead” on Saturday evening. Clocks change and we’ll all be a little more tired on Sunday!

Reopening Update

As you have likely heard, we have received new regulations and requirements from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Beginning on April 5th, 2021, Hatfield Elementary School will be in-person, for five days per week. It is looking like we will shift our school day to be more reflective of last year’s as well, running from 8:10-2:40. The details of exactly how this will look, how schedules will be impacted, and how we are going to make the shift are still being worked out. There are currently a lot more questions than answers. We will communicate any new information as soon as possible. This article provides some good information about the change.

We are in good shape to make the change, as we currently have all students whose families have opted for in-person learning here, four days per week. The staff and students have been incredible with the shifts we have made, and I am sure we will be able to roll with these changes, too.

School Report Card

Every year, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education releases a report card for each school and district in the state. Just as a student's report card shows how they are doing in different classes, school and district report cards are designed to show parents and community members how a school or district is doing in different areas. Report cards highlight a school or district's strengths as well as any challenges that need to be addressed in order to make sure the needs of all students are being met.

Massachusetts sees families and the community as important partners in a school's success and spent time listening to parents to make sure the report cards were designed as easy-to-use tools that provide meaningful information.

Families who would like to receive a hard copy should let the office know and we will send this to you via the postal service.

Pooled Testing

Please see Nurse Jean's information and consent form about the pooled testing program at Hatfield Elementary.

Students and classes are currently taking part in a “School Store” fundraiser.

This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Participation only takes 12 minutes and your child will win fun and exciting prizes. Every student will receive a prize, just for participating. More prizes will be rewarded when goals are reached.

Please help now. It really will make a difference.

Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000152639 to show our valued teachers your support.

Thank you, and enjoy the weekend.
