The Hatfield Education Foundation Donates Over $16,000 in Grants

Dear Hatfield School Community,

At their December 10, 2019, School Committee meeting, the Committee voted to accept $16,567.56 in grants from the Hatfield Education Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial and general support for a variety of programs and activities which improve and enhance the educational and extracurricular offerings to the students of Hatfield. Each year, HEF receives grant requests from Hatfield educators and school administrators that pay towards programs and materials that are not supported by the regular school budget. Some of the programs supported this year include; $5,000 towards the annual Smith Academy Spring Musical, $4,985 to support various curricular and extracurricular activities at both schools, $3,074 to support various field trips at both schools, $2,669 towards the purchase of materials to support the technology instruction at the elementary school, and $840 for teachers to attend professional development.

On behalf of the Hatfield Public Schools, I want to personally thank the members of the Hatfield Education Foundation for their continued support of our teachers and students.   As part of its fundraising effort, HEF sponsors many worthwhile community events each year. On February 8, 2020,  they will be hosting a "Murder Mystery Dinner." at the American Legion in Hatfield.  HEF meets the first Monday of each month at the Hatfield Elementary School at 6:30 pm and always welcomes new members. For more information about HEF or to join this important group, please see the link below or follow them on Facebook.
